When I’m not designing, the things that bring me the greatest joy (beyond the usual “friends, family, and travel” response) includes: squirrels, all things Penn State, meals consisting of pizza and pepsi, the greeting card aisle of Target, genealogy, singing along to all three Pitch Perfect movies, the smell of red cedar, lap cats, and laughing so hard I cry. All over the world Heifer promotes education, sustainable agriculture, local industry, and clean water. It helps people raise themselves up out of poverty and starvation. It teaches me something new every day and I’m inspired by the reasons behind the choices designers make. Heifer International is my favorite charity. For every person who joins this group, we plan to donate one dollar. LaSalas class at Jordan Middle School which focuses on raising awareness and money for Heifer International. Soon after, I accepted a job with Bates Creative where my small town personality became big city aspirations and I continued to grow deeper in love with design. The Heifer Project is a class project done by the 7th graders in Mr. After four years and one semester abroad in Italy, I graduated with a Bachelor of Design Degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Art History. I attended college at Pennsylvania State University where I cut my teeth as a baby designer and became part of the college’s legendary “Blue Band Silks” which performed at every home football game in front of 110,000 people. That’s when my advisor promoted me to “design editor’ and I decided to become a graphic designer when I grew up. This helped me realize that I was really good at organizing things on a page until it felt just right. My love of photography lead me to join my high school’s yearbook staff. Does anyone have direct experience with Heifer International. They teach farming skills such as improving soil with manure,etc. But also, they teach those that receive help to pass on their skills, calves,etc. When I was 5, I permanently attached a camera to my right hand and it still remains there today. Heifer International seems to have a sustainable model: Donate livestock, plants, animal husbandry skills. Designing Heifer’s Annual Reports has been a true labor of love. Among other things they train people in sustainable farming, help create access to local economies and empower women. Born and raised on a dairy farm in York County, Pennsylvania, I grew up with small town personality and a healthy understanding of the phrase ”hard work”. Heifer International is an organization with the goal of ending global hunger and poverty.
